Hoonigan returns with another This Vs That race, and this one’s a real showstopper. This time, a sandrail goes head-to-head with a modified S550 Shelby GT500. At first glance, the matchup seems lopsided—but maybe not in the way you’d expect.
The 2022 Shelby GT500 is a modern muscle car powerhouse. Built by CRE Performance, it still packs its Predator 5.2L supercharged V-8, delivering an impressive 900-950 horsepower to the wheels. Key upgrades include a smaller upper pulley, an E85 tune, and a full Stop the Hop suspension kit. While the GT500 is far heavier than the sandrail, its wide slicks and massive brakes make it a strong competitor on asphalt.
Meanwhile, the sandrail previously appeared in a This Vs That off-road race, weighs in at just 900 pounds—lighter than many big motorcycles—it’s powered by a methanol-injected engine that puts out an impressive 400 horsepower.
