Checkout This Custom Mustang With A Modern Twist

Custom builds in the automotive world showcase a perfect blend of creativity and craftsmanship, blending classic design with modern performance. A prime example of this is a remarkable 1966 Mustang featured on Autotopia LA’s YouTube channel, where Shawn Davis and the car’s owner, Dave, discussed the vehicle’s transformation.

Dave, who has owned the car for over 20 years, started with a black coupe Mustang. Over time, he converted it into a convertible, and with each passing year, the car underwent a series of upgrades. Despite retaining around 98% of its original body lines, the Mustang is now a high-performance machine.

Underneath its classic exterior lies a modern suspension system and a powerful, all-aluminum, big-block engine. The front end features a Mustang II-style suspension, offering a clean engine bay and eliminating the stock shock towers. The car also benefits from air suspension for improved ride comfort and handling.

Powering the car is a highly modified Ford FE engine, a stroked 427 pushing 460 cubic inches and producing up to 1,000 horsepower with the help of nitrous oxide. Paired with a Tremec TR-3550 transmission and a robust rear differential, this Mustang is built for both performance and reliability, combining classic appeal with modern muscle.
