FOR SALE: 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350

Powered by a replacement 289ci HiPo V8

The 1966 Shelby GT350 is  remembered as being among the earliest of high-output Mustangs to take driver comfort into account. This would be a principle that would heavily influence Mustang design in the years to come.

The 1966 Shelby GT350 still featured the same upgraded K-code, High-Performance 289 cubic-inch V8 as the year prior. This engine was fitted with a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel Carburetor, and Tri-Y headers.

These Shelby inspired modifications significantly enhanced the 289’s performance characteristics, making it a formidable opponent for any takers. All considered, the 1966 Shelby GT350 produced 306 horsepower and 329 ft-lb of torque, which was nothing short of monumental for its time.

Bearing Shelby Serial No. SFM6S2283, this 1966 Shelby GT350 was originally sold at McCafferty Ford in New Jersey. It was optioned with chrome-plated 14″ Magnum wheels and came without a radio or over-the-top stripes.

The car is finished in Candyapple Red, featuring a fiberglass hood, GT350 side stripes, and side scoops. Inside, you can find a Hurst shifter, Cobra tachometer, and black vinyl bucket seats. Power comes from a rebuilt HiPo 289/306 HP V8 engine, paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a locking rear differential with 4.10:1 gears.

Offered for sale on Bring A Trailer in excellent condition, this GT350 is accompanied with a Shelby American Automobile Club certificate, the original owner’s manual, 1960s service records, and a clean title.
