At the top of Ford’s 2009 Mustang lineup was the Shelby GT500KR, or “King of the Road.” Debuting at the 2007 New York Auto Show, the GT500KR marked the 40th anniversary of the original 1968 model.
Under the hood, this GT500KR packed serious power with its 5.4L DOHC, 32-valve, Cold Air intake-equipped supercharged V8 engine, producing 540 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the car could accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 4.3 seconds and achieve a quarter-mile time of 12.5 seconds at 114 MPH.
Distinctive features included a carbon fiber hood with functional scoops, unique 40th Anniversary badges and striping, a custom front splitter and rear spoiler, and a Shaker audio system with a 6-disc changer. Limited to fewer than 2,000 units between 2008 and 2009, the GT500KR remains a rare find.
This particular 2009 Shelby GT500KR is one of only 712 produced that year. Showing just 28 kilometers on the odometer, it still retains its original protective plastic from delivery and as well as the factory stickers. The car comes finished in Brilliant Silver with blue side and over-the-top stripes and a Dark Charcoal leather interior with embroidered Carroll Shelby signature headrests.
This striking GT500KR has also been outfitted with a short-throw shifter, power steering, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo with a six-disc CD changer. Outside, it boasts an aluminum hood with air extractors, Brembo power disc brakes, a tuned stainless exhaust with an X-pipe, SVT-tuned suspension, and Alcoa 10-spoke alloy wheels.
