In 1965, Carroll Shelby transformed the Ford Mustang from a modest “secretary’s car” into a racing icon. The Shelby GT350R made its mark on the track, its success leading to road-going versions of the Shelby GT350, which remained in production until 1969. Decades later, in 2015, Ford Performance resurrected the GT350R at the North American International Auto Show.
This modern iteration boasted a 526-horsepower flat-plane crank V8, carbon fiber wheels, a front splitter, and a carbon fiber rear wing, all tuned for maximum performance. The GT350R was produced until 2020, ending with a special edition to celebrate 55 years of the GT350 legacy.
One of those final editions, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Heritage Edition, is now available through Collecting Cars. With just 1,782 miles on the odometer, this model pays homage to Ken Miles, the legendary racer who first drove the GT350 in 1965. The car is finished in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue racing stripes, echoing the livery of the original.
This Heritage Edition features 19-inch black-painted carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Its equipment includes period-inspired badging, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, Recaro bucket seats, an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, and a suite of modern amenities such as climate control, launch control, a switchable exhaust system, and Bluetooth-enabled infotainment.
Mechanically, the car is fitted with an R Package and the GT350 Heritage Package. Highlights include adjustable strut mounts, Brembo brake calipers, MagneRide damping, a Torsen differential, and a dual exhaust system. The interior boasts a rear seat delete, aluminum trim details, and sports-focused touches like a red center marker on the steering wheel and Recaro seats.
