In December 2021, Shelby American revived the legendary GT500KR model in honor of its 60th anniversary, offering a limited edition of 60 King of the Road post-title modification packages for 2020 to 2022 model year Shelby GT500s.
The GT500KR delivers the highest horsepower ever in a production Mustang, powered by a formidable 5.2L V8 engine. This engine features a cold air intake system, a 3.8L Shelby by Whipple supercharger, a high-volume intercooler, heat exchangers, and a Shelby by Borla cat-back exhaust system, producing an impressive 900 HP.
The supercharged V8 is paired with a 7-speed, paddle-shifted automatic transmission, supported by performance half-shafts, extended and hardened wheel studs, and Shelby-spec lug nuts for drivetrain durability.
One of just 180 GT500KRs made from 2020 to 2022, this 2021 Shelby GT500, with only 288 miles, features the Carbon Fiber Track Pack and Technology package. It is finished in Grabber Yellow with black stripes, GT500KR graphics, and a carbon-fiber diffuser, hood, and rear wing, with a well-appointed interior featuring Recaro seats in black leather with microsuede panels and GT500KR embroidery.
Shelby enhanced the GT500’s MagneRide suspension, adding adjustable camber/caster plates, ride height-adjustable springs, and Shelby-spec sway bars. Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes with red-painted calipers and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on custom Shelby forged aluminum wheels complete the setup.
