FOR SALE: Safari-Style 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible

Inspired by the car featured in Pierce Brosnan's The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)

Offered for sale on Bring A Trailer, this 1968 Ford Mustang convertible has been transformed into a breathtaking homage to the car driven by Pierce Brosnan in The Thomas Crown Affair. The exterior features Shelby-style bodywork, including a GT500-style hood and nose panel, while the body has been refinished in a striking Nightmist Blue with white racing stripes.

Underneath, this Mustang is equipped with a Heidt’s front suspension system featuring coilovers and a four-link rear setup with a 9″ rear end and a Trac-Lok differential for enhanced handling and stability. It rides on 17-inch Legendary wheels wrapped in Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. The rotisserie restoration included underbody bracing, subframe connectors, and a black tubular roll bar with adjustable lighting.

Inside, the cabin is fitted with TMI Products saddle leather seats, a custom center console, and matching leather-trimmed panels. Amenities such as air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, cupholders, and a push-button radio offer both comfort and convenience.

The 5.0-liter Coyote V8, sourced from a Roush F-150, is a centerpiece of the car’s transformation, fitted with a high-flow intake tube, aluminum radiator, and Canton Racing oil filter adapter for reliable performance. Power is delivered through the Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch system and Centerforce clutch kit. A billet steel flywheel and a 3.50:1 geared rear differential complete the drivetrain.
