In a battle of American muscle, the Dodge NASCAR and Ford Mustang V8 went head-to-head in an intense drag race, hosted by Mat Watson and his team from carwow.
The Dodge Charger stock car, driven by Kurt Busch in the 2008 NASCAR Cup, packs a 5.9L naturally aspirated V8 engine with around 700 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Weighing 1,400 kilos, this beast is valued at around £110,000.
On the other side, the Ford Mustang GT features a 5L naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 451 horsepower and 527 Nm of torque. It utilizes a 10-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox to power the rear wheels. Weighing 1,843 kg, this Mustang comes in at £55,321.
Despite the Dodge’s raw power, the Ford Mustang V8 emerged victorious, completing the quarter-mile in just 13 seconds. After some technical issues with the Dodge, including potential fuel issues and overheating, they gave it another shot. But the result was the same—the Mustang still took the victory.
