The Foxbody Mustang is a legend in its own right. Known for its lightweight design, rear-wheel-drive platform, and endless aftermarket support, the Foxbody has been a favorite among drag racers and street enthusiasts for decades. Its 5.0-liter V8 engine, especially in the later models, delivered around 225 horsepower stock—a modest figure by today’s standards, but its simplicity and tunability make it a force to be reckoned with.
With a few bolt-ons, a Foxbody can easily push 300+ horsepower, and with forced induction or engine swaps, it can become a quarter-mile monster. The same goes for a particular Foxbody Mustang that appeared at the Island Dragway in New Jersey to challenged a modern Shelby GT500 in a quarter mile drag race.
As you can see in the video from ImportRace on YouTube, the Foxbody Mustang is far from stock but does it have enough power to outrun the Shelby GT500 powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8, producing 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque? Watch the video to find out!
