Canadian YouTube channel Sam CarLegion is known for pitting cars against each other on a drag strip, and this time around, they’re bringing in a GR Corolla against a Mustang GT. Both have similar weight-horsepower, but one’s rear-wheel drive and the other’s all-wheel drive. So, which would you pick?

With its 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, the Mustang GT makes 486 hp and 416 lb-ft of torque. It’s rear-wheel drive, weighs 3,933 lbs, and has a six-speed manual. The GR Corolla, with a 1.6L inline-3 turbocharged engine, produces 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It’s lighter at 3,200 lbs and has all-wheel drive, which gave it a great start off the line. But once the Mustang’s V8 got going, it pulled ahead and won by a solid margin.

At the end of the video, the Mustang takes on a tuned Subaru WRX, which has upgrades like an intake, turbo inlet, intercooler, and charge pipe. It’s estimated to make around 380 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, with a curb weight of about 3,450 lbs. Despite a rocky start with the Mustang’s launch control, it eventually showed its power advantage and pulled ahead against the Subaru.
