Mustang Of The Day: 1966 Ford Mustang GT350R Restomod

This 1966 Ford Mustang fastback, originally equipped with a K-code engine, underwent a comprehensive restoration and transformation into a GT350R-inspired machine. The heart of this build is a stroked 429 cubic-inch Dart aluminum small-block V8 featuring dry-sump lubrication.

Power is transferred through a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and a McLeod twin-disc clutch to a Strange 9-inch rear end with a 3.89:1 limited-slip differential. Wilwood disc brakes with Hydroboost and TCP suspension, including adjustable coilovers and a four-link rear, provide stopping power and handling.

The car rolls on staggered 17 and 18-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels and utilizes a 15-gallon fuel cell. Finished in white with blue stripes, the exterior boasts a custom fiberglass hood, GT350R-style front apron, and plexiglass rear and side windows. A 10-point roll cage, bolstered driver’s seat, black upholstery, and four-point harnesses complete the race-inspired interior.
