Among the iconic cars of the Sports Car Club of America’s Trans-Am racing series , the 1969-1970 Ford Boss 302 Mustang stood out for its exceptional handling and high-revving performance. In its racing configuration, the Boss 302 achieved its purpose, securing the 1970 SCCA Trans-Am championship with Parnelli Jones behind the wheel.
The example featured here is one of three Boss 302s built by Kar Kraft and prepared by Shelby for the 1969 Trans-Am season. It’s the second of the trio, with the cars numbered sequentially: “627” being the first, “628” (the car offered here) the second, and “629” the final one.
Powered by an estimated 525 bhp 302 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission, this car features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, double wishbone front suspension, live rear axle with leaf springs, and front and rear disc brakes.
