The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R was offered in 1993, 1995, and 2000, designed strictly for the racetrack. The 2000 Cobra R stood out as the only Cobra model that year, due to horsepower issues with the 1999 Cobra, which delayed the next regular Cobra until 2001.
With just 300 units produced, the 2000 Cobra R was exclusive and packed with a 5.4L V8 engine generating 385 HP, paired with a Tremec T56 transmission and an independent rear suspension with 3.55 gears.
The Cobra R came track-ready with features like Eibach springs, Bilstein shocks, Brembo brakes, a Fuel Safe 20-gallon fuel cell, removable front splitter, and a custom rear wing. To keep it lightweight, Ford removed amenities like air conditioning, cruise control, and audio. Many parts, like the F150-based engine block and revised heads, influenced future Ford models, including the 2005 GT.
This particular 2000 Cobra R has been modified by Full Tilt Boogie Racing with additions like a roll cage, Maximum Motorsports k-member, advanced suspension upgrades, Brembo brakes, CCW wheels, and a carbon-fiber hood. Other enhancements include 3:73 gears, a Torsen T2-R differential, and FTBR’s MAF kit for improved engine performance.
