In its third year on the fifth-generation S197 platform, which debuted in 2005, Ford introduced the California Special package in 2007 for GT Premium models to honor the original 1968 GT/CS Mustang hardtops. These original models featured distinctive appearance items, such as Shelby side scoops, a rear spoiler, and horizontal tail lights, specifically for the California market.

The 2007 GT/CS mirrored this with side scoops, unique front and rear fascias, and side tape stripes bearing the “GT/CS” lettering. It also included polished 18-inch aluminum wheels, a lower front chin spoiler, and rolled exhaust tips. Inside, it featured black leather-trimmed bucket seats with contrasting “Cal Special” inserts in dove or parchment leather.

This car is powered by a Saleen supercharged 4.6-liter V-8 engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. It also boasts numerous performance upgrades, including vented disc brakes with Baer calipers, BBK headers and exhaust, a Saleen Racecraft suspension system, a Hurst shifter, and a Ford Racing intake.
