Mustang Of The Day: 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Turbo Prototype

At the October 2009 SEMA Show, Shelby Automobiles introduced the “Shelby Turbo” Package, offering 550 horsepower and enhancements to performance, handling, braking, and appearance. It was notable for being the first turbo system designed for 50-state and CARB compliance in a post-title package on this platform. However, it never reached production.

The package included a Shelby/Turbonetics Turbocharger delivering 550 hp, a short throw shifter, Shelby Pro-Plus 4 Wheel Brake System, performance suspension with caster/camber plates, dual exhaust, and a Shelby bar grille with stripes. It also featured a Shelby gauge pod, serialized dash and engine bay plaque, Shelby Deep Draw hood with pins, and 18″ x 9″ chrome aluminum wheels paired with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Finished in Performance White with Dark Charcoal cloth upholstery, the car had a five-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, Borla exhaust, front-mounted intercooler, rear spoiler, and a Shaker 500 sound system with a six-disc CD changer.
