Ford and Shelby American teamed up to unveil a beast at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show – the second-generation Shelby GT500, the most powerful Mustang ever made at that time.

Under the hood of the 2014 GT500 sat a force to be reckoned with: a 5.8-liter, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), 4-valve V8 engine equipped with a supercharger and intercooler. This powerhouse churned out a staggering 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.

All that power ran through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, allowing the GT500 to reach a claimed top speed of 202 mph. To handle this immense power, Ford outfitted the car with a robust Tremec TR660 6-speed manual featuring a classic cue-ball style shift knob.

Gripping the road were staggered high-performance Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires: 285/35ZR-20 in the rear and 265/40ZR-19 in the front. These wrapped around upgraded alloy wheels included in the SVT Performance Package. Behind the spokes, you’d see the immense stopping power provided by 15-inch Brembo brakes with 6-piston calipers up front and 13.8-inch rotors with single-piston calipers at the rear.
