Shelby American had something special planned for the 50th Anniversary of the Super Snake, resulting in the release of the 2017 model. This version of the Super Snake delivered an impressive 750 horsepower when equipped with the optional high-volume supercharger, propelling the car from 0 to 60 MPH in under 4 seconds.
The process began with a standard GT-series Mustang, which was transformed at Shelby’s Las Vegas facility. The Super Snake’s 5.0-liter V8 was enhanced with a Ford Performance Supercharger, boosting output to 670 horsepower.
For even more power, buyers could opt for a Ken Belle/Whipple supercharger, bringing the total output to 750 horsepower. The engine was supported by an advanced cooling system and a Borla cat-back exhaust.
The 2017 Super Snake also received upgrades to the GT’s steering and suspension, including Ford Performance’s track handling package, along with Wilwood brakes featuring 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers.
Cosmetic changes included a custom hood, new rear spoiler, and Shelby’s signature stripe kit, while interior enhancements included embroidered headrests and custom floor mats. Each vehicle was authenticated with a numbered placard displayed on the dash.
