The 2018 Ford Shelby GT350 represents a significant evolution from its 1960s predecessor, embodying track-focused, high-performance engineering. At its heart is Ford’s 5.2L Voodoo V-8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, allowing it to rev to an impressive 8,000 RPM, reminiscent of a Ferrari.
This naturally aspirated engine is rated at 526 horsepower at 7,500 RPM, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in Ford’s history. Power is channeled to the road through a Tremec 3160 6-speed manual transmission and a 3.73:1 Torsen differential.
Inside, the 2018 Shelby GT350 offers two premium packages. The $3,000 Electronics Package includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a 9-speaker audio system, SiriusXM radio, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen.
The similarly priced Convenience Package adds all the features of the Electronics Package while also upgrading to leather, power-adjustable seats with heating/cooling and memory functions. With the added luxury for the same price, the Convenience Package seems like the more advantageous option.
