Unveiled in 2021, the 2022 NASCAR Next-Gen Mustang made its racing debut at the Daytona 500 on February 20, 2022. This competition car features new rack-and-pinion steering, independent rear suspension, and 18-inch tires with aluminum forged wheels. The carbon fiber composite body boasts a wider stance, while its symmetric exterior shell, tail, and smaller greenhouse area closely mirror the production Mustang.
Distinguishing itself from its predecessor, the new-generation NASCAR Mustang includes a five-speed sequential gearbox, dual exhaust pipes, and a repositioned driver. Enhanced safety measures feature additional roll bars, form-fitted foams between the chassis and nose/tail, and legacy hood and roof flaps to maintain stability at high speeds.
Under the hood, it’s powered by a formidable Roush-Yates V8, producing 600 horsepower in standard trim but capable of a thrilling 920 horsepower in unrestricted form, channeled through a sturdy XTrac transaxle for balanced performance.
