Rare 1989 Saleen Mustang Coupe Police Package Stuns at Car Show

A one-of-a-kind 1989 Saleen Mustang Coupe Police Package turned heads at a recent car show. Owned by the original purchaser since 1989, the car boasts a unique history and a collection of rare features.

This particular Saleen was one of only 20 built in 1989. Originally intended for a fire commissioner, the car ended up at a dealership where the current owner spotted it. The Mustang is packed with unique features, including an automatic transmission (uncommon for Mustangs at the time), a trunk release on the steering column (a police car feature), and a Momo steering wheel with integrated cruise control.

Other rarities include a calibrated speedometer, a 3.55 gear package by Saleen, and Flow Fit seats with manual lumbar support. Power windows, 17″ Speedline wheels, and a lack of hood insulation (another police car feature) further distinguish this Mustang. The engine compartment retains its original configuration, housing a 225 horsepower engine, untouched since purchase.
