Recently, I reflected on the fact that the Ford Mustang is one of the few sports car nameplates that has been in production uninterrupted for several decades. The only examples that come to mind are the Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette, and Golf GTI.
The Mustang, however, is particularly fascinating because, although Ford made some controversial design and powertrain choices for the Mustang in the seventies and eighties and even more recently, like four-cylinder engines and an SUV body, today Ford’s pony car retains the original ethos that makes a Mustang.
